I had a very pleasant day, one to one, course with Greg which was great fun and very informative. I had a problem with hollowing which he sorted out and we also covered the sharpening of gouges. Greg is a very pleasant guy and obviously has great skill which he is more than happy to pass on. Also an important fact, his price for a one to one was excellent. I look forward to our next day together.

I attended a 2 day course with my brother. Greg was enthusiastic and patient in sharing his knowledge and showing us the techniques to make a lampstand and bowl. He used a great combination of theory and illustration as well as demonstration and practice.

He instilled confidence in that I feel I would be able to have a go at practising at home. He encouraged us to join a Woodturning Club and gave us really helpful lists of useful basic tools and a copy of the woodturning magazine.

I would certainly recommend Greg as a tutor.

I had a very enjoyable 2 day workshop with Greg. Although I have had a ‘little used’ lathe for 20 years, I did not really know how to use it properly to produce works of art. He was very patient, while teaching me the various techniques and skills that would help me. I was particularly impressed by the restraint he exhibited when I did a ‘silly’ and my part finished bowl went spinning off across the workshop at 900 rpm. He showed me how to repair the damage and finish a bowl of which I can be proud. I would highly recommend Greg as a tutor to any turner wanting to improve their skills.

A remarkable two days of intense learning – far exceeding my expectations. I came away with a finished lampstand and bowl that friends and family were impressed with, and the confidence to start using the techniques I learned on a lathe at home.

I would recommend Gregory’s course to anyone wanting to learn how to turn wood safely on a power lathe.

I have photographs of the lampstand and bowl that I am happy to share.

I attended a beginner’s 2 day course last week and enjoyed it immensely. The outcome exceeded my expectations. Having in the past enviously watched friends engage in woodturning, I now feel confident to produce beautiful simple objects myself which I will use as presents to friends and family. Greg is clearly passionate about wood turning and this shows in everything he does. He is very welcoming and an extremely effective tutor. I have learned a lot from the course and I have no hesitation in recommending him to prospective students and clients.

I took this course with a friend. We found it an excellent introduction to the world of wood turning. Gregory lead us through the course with great teaching skills and patience, at just the right speed for us to take in the information and then practice.

We were pleasantly surprised at the quality we achieved on the two pieces we turned.

Wood turning is always something I wanted to try. Received a warm and friendly welcome and was pleased with the safety briefing and introduction to tools and equipment. The detailed explanations of woods, how they were cut to show the grain was both interesting and beneficial. Initial practise was very helpful and working on 2 projects across the 2 days initially felt way beyond my capabilities. With guidance and a lot of patience from Greg the projects turned out to be brilliant and beyond my expectation.
