Tuition in the Craft of Wood Turning |

Gregory offers courses for individuals or up to two students in his
workshop in Claygate, Surrey.
There are 2 state of the art
Vicmarc VL300 lathes for student’s use.
Alternative venues or small groups can be arranged
All courses are fully insured and include use of all tools, safety equipment and timber. Some equipment
is available for purchase.

Introduction to Wood turning (2 days)
A basic course is excellent as a starter for those interested in trying the craft for the first time.
The introductory course will cover basic aspects of woodturning from tool sharpening
to lathe skills. You will be able to make up to 4 items to keep during this course (see picture
to the right for an example of work produced by a student on this course),
which can include things like plant dibbers, tool handles, garlic boards and bowls.
All timber is included, and advice on the purchase of equipment is available. Each
day will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm with a short break for lunch
Introductory Course - £190 GBPS (Including all materials used)
30% Supplement required to guarantee 1 to 1 tuition (ie £247 GBPS)
20% discount if 2 students book together (ie £152 GBPS each student)
Very occasionally we run weekend courses for a 30% Supplement (ie £247 GBPS)

Wood Turning Refresher and Advanced Courses (1 day to 4 days)
This is an ideal course for those familiar with the basics
who wish to acquire particular skills. The specifics of each course are
designed by you to meet your particular needs and interests,
either by selecting from
pre-designed modules or individual tailoring*.
Each day will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm with a short break for lunch

30% Supplement required to guarantee 1 to 1 tuition
20% discount available if 2 students book together
*individually tailored courses are usually 1 to 1 and therefore attract a 30% Supplement
A list of topics for inspiration is offered separately, but why not
contact Gregory directly for a totally unique and fully tailored course*. Some projects
may incur extra costs to cover materials.

For any of these courses it is always useful to know what level the student is at and what
type of equipment (if any) they have. This helps us to tailor a course that will
be of most benefit to them in advance.
If you wish to bring your own tools, if you have any, then you are very welcome to and Gregory
can offer advice on sharpening etc..
